My parenthood is neither painful nor does it require relief. When I say that I accept my son as he is, I’m not trying to fool myself and others.

It’s not about speech, spectrums, or understanding. It’s about who we are as people.

Not the “Autism Awareness” where you are aware of what Autism is.

Autism or not, sing to your kids. Even if you, like me, never sing for anyone else, do it for them.

Of course, if anyone does them wrong, I would go buck on them. That’s a given. But I’ll just wait until that happens.

He smiles big and I can see that he knows it’s special. He knows it’s for him.
